Located in Katombora, Zambia, our students demonstrate extraordinary resilience by learning music entirely outdoors while awaiting a new school building.

Under the guidance of their dedicated teacher Oscar, their fierce loyalty and adaptability continually inspire our global community.

COMMUNITY CHALLENGES

The reality our students face every day

In rural Zambia's Southern Province, families live with some of the widest gaps in basic services on the continent. Here's a snapshot of the community where we serve our students.

79%

live below the poverty line

In rural Zambia, nearly 4 in 5 people live in poverty. Families spend 64% of their income on food alone.

47%

lack access to safe drinking water

Only about half of rural Zambians have access to safe water. The Kazungula district has long suffered from inadequate water infrastructure.

1 in 8

rural households have electricity

Less than 12% of rural homes have any access to electricity - compared to

75% in Zambia's cities.
