At Futures in Tune, we don't believe you can teach intangible skills like empathy and compassion just by talking about them.

You have to live them.

From idea to impact: the Futures in Tune story

HISTORY

Inspired to connect students globally through music, Futures in Tune was born from the minds of Brian Lapin, Terence Yoshiaki, and Mike Fratantuno. Known collectively as the Transcenders, the L.A. composers collective is known for their work on shows like Blackish and Gossip Girl.

Beginning with a pilot program in January 2023, the first Futures in Tune connection was made between partner schools in Los Angeles and KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, joining students across continents through music.

As a result of that success, the program has grown to include partner schools in India and will expand to Zambia in the fall of 2025, expanding its geographic reach, increasing the number of students impacted, and helping local community teachers through training and development.

Futures in Tune is driven by an ongoing partnership between the Transcenders Music Academy and the Bloom Arts Foundation.
