Deborah McCoy
Program Coordinator
Deborah has a degree in Environmental Science from the University of Nevada- Reno where she graduated with honors.
After years of working for the U.S. Forest Service, doing plant studies in the Tahoe National Forest, she decided to take some time traveling and exploring the Americas. While in Peru, she was inspired to co-found Chakak’uichi- Unify the Americas, a non-profit organization whose goal was to create a bridge between different communities to encourage a cross-cultural exchange of ideas, talents and experience between North, Central and South America.
Spending most of her time in Peru and Bolivia, she and her cofounder collaborated with educators in the area to bring school supplies to children living in remote areas. They also talked with leaders of the different communities to learn about their culture, needed resources and community goals.
In 2014 she moved from Utah to Los Angeles to live in a culturally diverse area and to study essential oil therapy. She has continued training in several healing arts and interested in people finding their true expression and sharing it with the world as the intrinsic value that it is.
As an adventurous life long learner, she is thrilled to be part of BAF and to continue championing this important work on behalf of the children in Los Angeles and beyond.
